Scope of Work:

Individuals assigned to positions in this job family perform a combination of duties associated with maintenance of kitchen work areas and equipment, the distribution of supplies and prepared foods, and food preparation.


Examples of Duties:

  • Receipt and unload supplies received
  • Unpack, stock, and move supplies
  • Clean work areas and equipment
  • Collect and wash dishes and utensils
  • Prepare and serve foods
  • Operate various cleaning equipment
  • Arrange and clean dining tables
  • Sort and arrange dishes, utensils, and silverware
  • Replace tablecloths
  • Distribute meals to various locations
  • Perform supply inventory functions
  • May function as a lead worker in larger food preparation facilities

Minimum Qualifications to Enter Family:

Requires the completion of eight years of school.


Exception: The employing institution may substitute directly related work experience or education for minimum qualification requirements with written justification.
