PRINTING OPERATIONS

OVERTIME PAY ELIGIBILITY: Usually non-exempt (exempt status requires analysis documentation)

Scope of Work:

Individuals assigned to positions in this job family perform activities involving the printing of a variety of documents.


Examples of Duties:

  • Maintain/operate printing equipment
  • Examine job orders to determine press operating time, quantity to be printed, and stock specifications
  • Remove and clean plate and cylinders at end of run
  • Plan, layout and design printing jobs
  • Inspect final printing work to maintain quality control
  • Maintain inventory of printing supplies
  • Prepare cost estimates of printing jobs
  • Perform budget and resource planning
  • Maintain records
  • Participate in the development of bids for contracted work
  • May supervise employees performing similar work

Minimum Qualifications to Enter Family:

Requires an Associate degree in graphic arts (printing) or printing.


Exception: The employing institution may substitute directly related work experience or education for minimum qualification requirements with written justification.
