PRINTING OPERATIONS

OVERTIME PAY ELIGIBILITY: Usually non-exempt (exempt status requires analysis documentation)

Scope of Work:
Individuals assigned to positions in this job family perform activities involving the printing of a variety of documents.
Examples of Duties:
- Maintain/operate printing equipment
- Examine job orders to determine press operating time, quantity to be printed, and stock specifications
- Remove and clean plate and cylinders at end of run
- Plan, layout and design printing jobs
- Inspect final printing work to maintain quality control
- Maintain inventory of printing supplies
- Prepare cost estimates of printing jobs
- Perform budget and resource planning
- Maintain records
- Participate in the development of bids for contracted work
- May supervise employees performing similar work
Minimum Qualifications to Enter Family:
Requires an Associate degree in graphic arts (printing) or printing.
Exception: The employing institution may substitute directly related work experience or education for minimum qualification requirements with written justification.
