OVERTIME PAY ELIGIBILITY: Usually non-exempt (exempt status requires
analysis documentation)
EFFECTIVE DATE: 07/01/99
Scope of Work:
Individuals assigned to positions in this job family install and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures for heating, water, and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing code.
Examples of Duties:
- Install, repair, and maintain water, air, gas, and sewer lines and systems
- Hook up hot water units, heaters, and other equipment
- Cut, thread, and install pipe
- Operate power saws and threading equipment; use all hand tools normally associated with trade
- Install and maintain steam lines and equipment
- Work from building plans, diagrams, and drawings to plan and lay out routing, placement, slant/slope, and fall of systems
- Maintain and repair plumbing controls and equipment
- Requisition materials and supplies for plumbing jobs and insure material and labor costs are charged to proper accounts
- Estimate time and materials
- Inspect jobs in progress and upon completion
- May supervise employees performing similar work
Minimum Qualifications to Enter Family:
Requires high school diploma or GED and licensure, registration or certification as required by law.
Exception: The employing institution may substitute directly related
work experience or education for minimum qualification requirements with
written justification.
