Scope of Work:
Individuals assigned to positions in this job family apply paints, stains, and other finishes to decorate and protect interior and exterior surfaces, trim, and fixtures of buildings and other structures.
Examples of Duties:
- Prepare surfaces for finish painting
- Apply finish to prepared surfaces
- Clean equipment
- Repair surfaces
- Protect surfaces not to be painted
- Set up ladders and erect scaffolding; operate manlift and boom truck
- Glaze windows, tape sheetrock and texture
- Mix pigments to get desired shade or color
- Paint and letter by hand or use stencils
- Prepare furniture for refinishing
- Stain, seal, and refinish furniture
- Estimate costs and materials for jobs
- Order materials and equipment
- Maintain records
- May supervise employees performing similar work
Minimum Qualifications to Enter Family:
Requires high school diploma or GED.
Exception: The employing institution may substitute directly related
work experience or education for minimum qualification requirements with
written justification.
