GENERAL MAINTENANCE
Scope of Work:
Individuals assigned to positions in this job family participate in semi-skilled and skilled maintenance and repair work, grounds maintenance and upkeep and/or construction and maintenance of facilities.
Examples of Duties:
- Perform general labor and grounds work
- Prepare and maintain athletic facilities
- Maintain grounds and develop recommendations for landscaping
- Move furniture, equipment, and supplies
- Perform custodial tasks in facility maintenance
- Perform building and equipment maintenance
- Prepare estimates and job orders
- Recommend the purchase or replacement of equipment
- Service and maintain vehicles and equipment
- May assist skilled trades workers
- Maintain an inventory of equipment, tools, and supplies
- Assist in specification writing for purchasing equipment and supplies
- Diagnose and assess maintenance problems
- Coordinate and evaluate activities of outside contractors
- Record and forecast expenses; prepare operating budget
- Maintain records
- May supervise employees performing similar work
Minimum Qualifications to Enter Family:
Requires high school diploma or GED.
Exception: The employing institution may substitute directly related
work experience or education for minimum qualification requirements with
written justification.
