GENERAL MAINTENANCE

Scope of Work:

Individuals assigned to positions in this job family participate in semi-skilled and skilled maintenance and repair work, grounds maintenance and upkeep and/or construction and maintenance of facilities.

Examples of Duties:

• Perform general labor and grounds work
• Prepare and maintain athletic facilities
• Maintain grounds and develop recommendations for landscaping
• Move furniture, equipment, and supplies
• Perform custodial tasks in facility maintenance
• Perform building and equipment maintenance
• Prepare estimates and job orders
• Recommend the purchase or replacement of equipment
• Service and maintain vehicles and equipment
• May assist skilled trades workers
• Maintain an inventory of equipment, tools, and supplies
• Assist in specification writing for purchasing equipment and supplies
• Diagnose and assess maintenance problems
• Coordinate and evaluate activities of outside contractors
• Record and forecast expenses; prepare operating budget
• Maintain records
• May supervise employees performing similar work

Minimum Qualifications to Enter Family:

Requires high school diploma or GED.

Exception: The employing institution may substitute directly related work experience or education for minimum qualification requirements with written justification.
