Scope of Work:

Individuals assigned to positions in this job family provide technical services to research functions such as laboratory tests and analysis, preparation of metabolic diets, application of research methods and techniques, and preparation of pharmaceuticals for dispensing.

Examples of Duties:

• Set up, adjust, and operate laboratory equipment and instruments
• Prepare specimens and perform examinations and analyses
• Prepare media reagents and other solutions
• Test samples of materials or chemical substances
• Prepare records and reports of laboratory analysis, test results and interpretations
• Clean, sterilize and maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, and work areas
• Prepare and weigh all foods for research studies
• Monitor the dietary intake of research volunteers pursuant to specific research criteria; inspect eating areas for uneaten food and record as necessary
• Input, recall, and manipulate data to prepare statistical spreadsheets; design and prepare tables, charts, graphs, and reports
• Perform preliminary and supplementary reference work to obtain background materials
• Assist in the preparation of data for publication; receive and respond to public and staff inquires for statistical information
• Assist in the technical services of preparing pharmaceutical for final dispensing by
• May monitor expenditures and provide input for procurement
• May supervise employees performing similar work

Minimum Qualifications to Enter Family:

Requires an Associate degree in appropriate field and licensure, registration or certification as required by law.

Exception: The employing institution may substitute directly related work experience or education for minimum qualification requirements with written justification.
