Scope of Work:
Individuals assigned to positions in this job family assist environmental functions such as agricultural research, forest management, technical engineering projects, and coal conversion pilot plant operation and maintenance.
Examples of Duties:
- Prepare feed and feed animals according to prescribed research conditions
- Build, maintain, modify equipment, structures, or apparatus used in field, greenhouse or animal research
- Conduct standard laboratory tests
- Compile data and maintain records
- Inventory woodlands to analyze conditions, determine tree values, estimate timber yields and prepare management plans
- Perform nursery tasks
- Process grant applications and assist rural fire departments in surplus property procurement, inventory and distribution for fire protection
- Prevent and suppress forest, brush and grassland fires
- Develop and maintain state forest and nursery facilities
- Inspect, sample, test activities in the field or in a laboratory
- Perform instrument and other survey duties
- Prepare a variety of maps, plans, and similar drawings
- May manage construction projects
- Disassemble, clean, and reassemble pilot plant equipment
- Operate process related instrumentation and various pilot plant combustors
- May supervise employees performing similar work
Minimum Qualifications to Enter Family:
Requires an Associate degree in appropriate field.
Exception: The employing institution may substitute directly related work experience or education for minimum qualification requirements with written justification.
