Scope of Work:
Individuals assigned to positions in this job family perform routine and specialized duties in the keeping of accounts, financial records, or collection of delinquent taxes, loans, fees or other debts.
Examples of Duties:
- Post entries to maintain ledgers, journals, registers, etc.
- Receive payments and prepare daily deposits
- Prepare billing statements and invoices, respond to inquiries, perform collection duties
- Prepare and review purchase orders, receiving reports, requests for payment, vouchers, invoices, and billings; allocate appropriate codes
- Prepare balance sheets, reports, and supporting schedules for basic accounts
- Assist or prepare budget reports
- Review accounts, reports, and records to verify accuracy; adjust as appropriate
- Maintain inventory of supplies, materials and fixed assets
- Maintain various financial records, contracts, budgets, appropriation control records, and revolving fund accounts
- Coordinate activities of a centralized financial function
- Monitor compliance of the function with federal and state laws and regulations
- Locate and contact debtors by phone, mail, or personal visit in attempts to secure payment
- Compose correspondence
- Input, update, and reconcile account information
- Provide technical information and assistance
- Research current laws and regulations
- May supervise employees performing similar work
Minimum Qualifications to Enter Family:
Requires an Associate degree with coursework in accounting, business administration, banking, finance or related.
Exception: The employing institution may substitute directly related work experience or education for minimum qualification requirements with written justification.
